I already have a full time job, can I also sign up?
Nothing is stopping you from joining our site. We always advice you not to give up a stable job until you are confident that you can earn enough money to make a living out of it. It is also worth checking your contract before starting a company or legal partnership.
I would like to work for myself but don't know in what field:
Fill in your profile with your experience and motivation – another member may be looking for someone with your skill set to join them. Or you may get together with someone to form a business plan. Remember, your drive and enthusiasm may attract other members, so don't give up if you don't have an extensive amount of experience.
What types of businesses are best suitable for mothers?
Have a look at the Inspiration section. Here you can find a considerable list of the types of businesses that are most suitable to mothers.
I have a great idea for a business but need some help?
In the Resources section you can find a lot of helpful information. We give advice ranging from different types of businesses to finding the right business partner and we also direct you to the right organisations to seek further help and advice. If you still have outstanding questions just send us an email.
Do I have to live in the same area as my potential business partner?
We have created the option to search for location because there are many advantages to living close to your business partner.
When you live close by it's easier to meet up and share childcare. However you can also search for 'all locations' or another location other than where you are from. You might get in contact with a suitable business partner that lives further away.
How do I make the most of my registration?
When registering for the website and creating your profile, make sure you tick all the fields that apply to you. Use the 'headline text' to (briefly) indicate what you are looking for. When searching, try multiple industry sectors and locations to increase your search results. You can always refine this later. By searching for all industry sectors and all locations, you might find someone in another industry sector looking for someone with your qualities.
I don’t want to disclose my business idea, what would you advise?
You don’t have to write your idea in your profile. Be discrete, create your profile indicating the field you are trying to set up a business in and what you need to make it work.
As people contact you, you can select who you want to deal with by researching their background and judge whether you need them to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before releasing full details of your idea.
What are your tips on evaluating business partners?
Mum Plus Business has not checked or evaluated people - you must do this yourself. We advise you to use common sense in the same way that you would in any walk of life. Start off using our private inbox system for correspondence. Once you have decided you would like to meet in person, we would advise you to first speak on the phone and then meet in a public place.
You can change your personal details and edit your profile in the ‘Your Account’ section by clicking on 'Edit Personal Info' and 'My Profile'. If you would like to delete your profile please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will delete your profile for you. Also, if you are having any technical issues contact us at this email address.
How do I change or delete my profile?
What can I do if I receive abusive or unwanted messages?
Do you reveal my email address to anyone?
Mum Plus Business never releases any of your details to any 3rd party. We also automatically operate a private messaging system for you to make initial contact with other members; your email details therefore are kept confidential.
